The New Year is right around the corner and needless to say, you are probably busy making plans to usher in 2014.

Many people don’t know that Goa, India is one of the most popular destinations to bring in New Year. This amazing beach town has some exciting activities lined up around this time of year, so it’s definitely worth checking out! With climate on your side, this is also perhaps the best time to go sightseeing and indulge in partying without having to stand in freezing New York City watching the ball drop.

One way to travel so far without spending a lot of money is to book it with MakeMyTrip coupons. MakeMyTrip makes up about 50% of online sales in the travel industry, so it’s a good spot to head first to look for travel deals when you want to go someplace far like India. Of course, if partying isn’t your thing, there is lots more to do in Goa that doesn’t involve getting wild. For example, you can book a sightseeing tour that allows you to explore Old Goa and immerse yourself in the old world, pristine charm of this part of the town.

You’ll love Goa’s vintage style mansions, cathedrals, and temples which are designed with a distinct Portuguese flavor and are decorated elaborately during Christmas and New Year festivities. The St. Catherine’s Cathedral, Bom Jesus Basilica, Rachel Museum of Modern Art, St. Cajetan’s Church, Cocoon Art Gallery, Kerkar Art Complex, Shree Mahalaxmi Temple and Shree Mangueshi Temple are some of the beautiful places that welcome you as a part of your Old Goa sightseeing this New Year season.

Of course, when you are in Goa, you can’t miss out on the palm fringed, lively beaches out there. After all, the entire state is full of beaches and each of these offers something different and unique. Enthusiasts of water sports get a great chance to let their hair down and enjoy moonlight parties on the beach. You can also hire a bike and go explore the quaint, interior parts of this town.

Goa also boasts of plentiful of flora and fauna which you can explore by a visit to any of its wildlife sanctuaries like Cotigao, Bhagwan Mahavir and Bondla sanctuaries. These wildlife sanctuaries also provide comfortable accommodations, and you can find some of the rarest species of animals and birds here.

If you want to take some exciting souvenirs back home from Goa, you can stop at the Anjuna flea market and get some great bargains on all products. If you have the time to spare, also make a stop at the Abyss Spice Farm, Savoi Spice Plantation or the Sahakari Spice Farm here, which are all spice plantations that have some amazing history.

Overall, Goa, India is an incredibly unique place to visit and even more so during the holiday season.

Where will you be reining in the new year?

  1. I’ll ring in the new year probably sleeping on my couch with my infant on my chest. But, we are planning to go to India next Thanksgiving!

    1. Sounds like a great New Year’s 🙂 India sounds amazing as well. We were trying to fit India into our travel plans for 2014 but couldn’t do it. Hopefully in 2015 though.
