Today I’m on my way bright and early to Charlotte, NC to the Financial Bloggers Conference. The schedule is super jam packed, even more so than last year, and I’m excited to be there as a speaker this time around talking about – what else – freelance writing online.
The Financial Bloggers conference, better known as FinCon, is like a huge reunion. I’m looking forward to seeing all the people I work with every day in the flesh. There are a handful of bloggers who I am in contact with daily, and it’s always fun to catch up with my fellow self-employed hustlers in person.
FAMILY UPDATE
This is one of the most hectic weeks we’ve had in a long time. The hubs just submitted 176 residency applications to programs all over the country. It’s super exciting and a little scary. It’s been a grueling 5 years for him, and he’s worked so hard. It all really comes down to this so over the next few days and weeks we’re hoping he gets some interview offers so he can secure a job next year (and all the years after that!)
In addition to the hubs’ applications and preparing for FinCon, I’ve been shouldering a lot of the parenting responsibilities as hubs is on an intense rotation this month where he has to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning and isn’t getting home until 6:30 or so. My in laws are here again as reinforcements to help with the madness while I am away at the conference.
I know the next few months will continue to be hectic as the hubs and I battle sometimes conflicting schedules, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. After all, what’s life for if you’re not pursuing what you love?

Have a safe trip Cat, it’s good to know that you are going to Financial Bloggers Conference. Thankfully, you have your in-laws that are willing to reinforce you! 🙂
Have a good & prosperous time at FinCon, Cat!!! 🙂
You really do have a busy week on Cat! Hope you enjoy FinCon and that the interviews come flying in for your fella.
Thanks also for the mention, really appreciate it!
Have fun at the conference with all those amazing bloggers. It’s nice to hear that you have a support system to help out as I know while I’m working long hours it is tough on my wife with our little one. Enjoy the break, smile and have fun.
WOW that’s a lot of residency applications! Congratulations to your husband on finishing that step!
Thanks a bunch for linking to my post this week. I enjoyed meeting you at FinCon last year and I’m sorry I won’t be able to see you this year! Have a great time!
Good luck to the Hubs!!
