Richmond Stay-cation Part 1

Before we check out of Richmond entirely, the hubs and I are trying to see the sights. Because, really, how often do you go to museums or other notable places in your own town? Never. That’s what vacations are for, right? I’m super fortunate to have a free pass to almost all of the museums in Richmond (one of the very few perks of working in a museum), and today we went to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden! It was so beautiful there and so nice outside today! We truly could not have picked a better time to stroll around the gardens hand in hand. They had an amazing orchid exhibit too. I wish some of these pictures were scratch and sniff because they smelled amazing!

A perfect hand carved gazebo that looked like lace…
This orchid is called Lady Slipper because it looks like a shoe…Love it!

I had to join in a day early to Sarah’s Wear A Dress Tuesday party!

Had to snap a picture of the quatrefoil fountain!

Gorgeous tulips in full bloom…

Love how these yellow orchids cascade down…

Has anyone else taken a day to explore your own city? It’s only taken me about three years, sheesh! I wish I would have knocked out this list sooner! Isn’t having a “stay-cation” such a good idea? It keeps the cash in your wallet, eliminates the stress of packing and finding a dog sitter, and puts a smile on my face. 🙂 I’d love to hear about some of your favorite places in your own hometowns! Stay tuned for more inexpensive things to do in Richmond.

  1. You look BEAUTIFUL!

A couple of months before I moved back north I went to the Atlanta Botanical Garden – my goodness, it was gorgeous! I wish I had thought to go earlier. What a spiritual experience!

  2. I *love* your dress!!! LOL about your quatrefoil obsession.

  3. Stay-cations are my absolute favorite! I find something new in my hometown every time. Also, with your quatrefoil love, you should check out this company called Dabney Lee. They have gorgeous colors of homeware with the pattern!

  4. What a beautiful garden! Orchids are so amazing! I’ve been thinking about having a staycation this summer. I’ve lived in portland forever, but there’s so many things I haven’t done because we live here. Isn’t it funny how that works out?!
