The Beans are Growing & A Writing Wrap Up

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having an awesome Friday so far. I’m super excited because I’ll be hanging out with some blog friends this weekend and will share all the deets in our next writing wrap up next Friday. It’s always fun to meet the people you interact with online in real life. 🙂

The Beans are Growing

We have a new nanny who is amazing. She comes twice a week and is a God send. I wish she could come every single day. We had a mother’s helper in the afternoons and evenings who was so sweet but I realized I really needed time during the day to make phone calls and work and hold normal hours. So, I can do that now twice a week and can hopefully grow my business enough to add another day eventually.

Today our nanny told me that Bean bit Beanette on the toe when she tried to kick away his favorite book in the entire world (Brown Bear Brown Bear.) She cried when he bit her and then our nanny told Bean “No!” and then his eyes got all big and welled up with tears and he cried. Oh man! It’s sad but it’s also getting really fun to watch these two interact. They steal toys from each other a lot but then there is a real connection between the two of them that’s a lot gentler and sweeter, like how Bean always puts his hand on his sister when they drink their bottles side by side, like he’s letting her know he’s right there. Also, I put them down for their second nap yesterday and all I could hear through the door was Bean cracking up laughing and Beanette “talking” back to him and then him laughing some more. It’s super cute, toe biting and all.

Just look at this pic of them from when they were a few days old… Can you believe they’ll be 1 on Monday? Sniff sniff… I’ve already cried about it a few times.

  1. Your twins are so cute!!!

I feel this past month I’ve been really busy with freelancing. I have 10 hours a week with the girls in daycare, and then about 1-2 hours each afternoon when they’re napping. As of now, I’m going to have to start either waking up early or going to bed late to get everything done! If I continue to stay busy I’ll probably up daycare time a bit. Having a nanny sounds wonderful!! Are you home when the nanny is there?! I feel like I would have a hard time staying focused on work haha!

Congrats with all the writing!!! You stay very busy!! I admire you! 🙂

  2. Wow they’re already 1 time really does fly by. Glad you got a nanny that sounds like a big help. Keep up the great work Cat!

  3. Aww I really cannot believe that they are almost 1. They are growing up so fast! The new nanny schedule sounds like a great idea. I really do not know how you do it all!

  4. Wow, can’t believe they’re almost 1! My oldest just turned 3 and even then it’s hard to believe he’s not still a newborn.

By the way, we have the same love/hit dynamic going on in our house. Most of the time they’re actually incredibly sweet together, but it can quickly devolve into hitting and tears too. Keeps us on our toes!

  5. I can’t believe the Beans are going to be 1!!!! It’s funny that the biting is very much a developmental thing, and at least you know the other child biting your child. When Will was in daycare around this time he was constantly coming home with bites or reports of him biting. We were freaked out at first, but then realized that just about every kid does it around this age because they can’t yet communicate with words, so this is how they express their frustrations.

  6. I can’t believe it has been almost a year! They were so tiny…it’s been a pleasure watching them grow 🙂

  7. Cath, you are very lucky to have a good nanny! I just hope you can still spend more time with them because it really is something different that I am sure you’d appreciate it much. 1? Time really passes by so quickly, indeed.

  8. Today is the big day. Happy birthday to your twins! I hope you’re getting lots of photos and videos. These are very precious times : )
