This is {Wherever} Wednesday #14: Grateful Edition

Thanks for stopping in to the This is {Wherever} Wednesday Party, where we chat about the good, the bad, and the silly things that are indicative of where you live.
This week’s theme is gratefulness.
You can join in too by writing about where you live and the things you appreciate most about it. Then, just link up at the bottom of the page and provide a link back.
Last week, Carrie wrote about the beauty of Guatemala and how glad she is to live there, and Whit wrote about new/old friends she’s making at her job in St. Maarten.
Here is my list of things I’m grateful for:
In Grenada, I am thankful for time spent with my little family of 3:
I’m grateful for my mom, who is always genuinely happy to hear from me, who listens to me, and who encourages me on this crazy path we have chosen. I’m also grateful to my mother in law, who has become a friend over the years and someone I can always lean on.
I’m grateful for my husband and his intense work ethic. I’m grateful that he had the guts to follow his dreams all the way to Grenada.
I am thankful for my friends here in Grenada, who notice when I’m down and invite me places and make me get out of the house.
I’m grateful for the times when I laugh so hard at the ridiculous things that happen here. I always find myself either shaking my head in disbelief or near tears. Either way, I know I am experiencing something unique and may never get the chance to live in another country again.
I’m grateful to my friends back home for Skyping with me and encouraging me, for knowing me well and allowing me the freedom to say what I want.
I’m also very thankful to my dad & father in law. My father in law takes care of all our mail, lets us know when bills come in, and battles annoying people on the phone for me. We could never do this without him. I love you, Mr. Darryl!
I’m also thankful for you, my bloggy friends. You have no idea what a big part of my day you are. I look forward to all your comments, your posts, and your encouragement. When I wrote about moving to Grenada for the first time, you were all so excited for me and eager to hear about it. Without you, my day would be incredibly boring and my blog not nearly as fun as it is. xoxo.

  1. LOVE all those pictures. I agree, don’t know what I would do without good friends here and good family back home! Is the food you and your father in law cooking called burgoo? My roommate from the South just described to me how his family makes it and what he described sounds very similar to what you guys are doing.

  2. First, I want to see more of the pics that go with your first pic.

Secondly, I am ALWAYS here for you to drag your butt out of the house. haha 🙂

Third, I have been there when you wash clothes, and let me tell all your friends back home that you and Jonathan are troopers for getting bucket after bucket to wash your clothes!! I must admit, however, I did get a good chuckle out of that picture!

Finally, I am so happy that I get to see you on Thanksgiving!!! 🙂 My mini family of friends in Grenada will keep me from getting upset tomorrow!
