This is {Wherever} Wednesday #9

Oh snap. It’s our 9th party!

For anyone new around here, welcome to This is {Wherever} Wednesday where you get to dish about all the crazy things that happen where you live.

It could be silly like being late to work because of a sheep crossing or sweet like someone giving you 20 free coffees for no reason (where do I get these nonsense ideas from?)

Either way, I want to hear about it! All you have to do is write a fabulous post and click the “add your link” button at the bottom of this page and follow the directions. I also ask that you link back to the party so everyone knows where to find other fun hometown stories.

I always put “T.I.G.” at the end of my posts which stands for “This. Is. Grenada.” It’s a little thing we say around here when things are totally bizarre (or totally awesome.)

Here are my favorite submissions from last week:

Whit enlightened all of us by sharing her love of arepas. Don’t know what that is? Me neither. But I’m pretty sure you can trust her when she says it’s a flat cornmeal patty filled with deliciousness like shrimp, cheese, etc. Seeing as Whit has an excellent understanding of cuisine (just look at her prison cobbler recipe) I pretty much want one now. And, she gets 4,212 extra post points because she said she wants me to send my waterfall water slide to St. Maarten, which I’m totally working on btw. T.I.S.M.

I also thoroughly enjoyed Gale’s T.I.T. for T.A.T. post which stands for “This is Texas” and “This ain’t Texas.” It was such a clever post and I loved it! My favorite? “I’ve seen rainclouds this week but no rain. This is Texas.” I can totally relate to that one!

And now for ours:

One would think I’d be used to the bizarre happenings in Grenada after two months here. Yet, I was still totally baffled that a taxi stopped right in front of me and let a passenger out to pee on the side of the road. He then got back in, and the taxi drove away. T.I.G.

I was contemplating baking bread but didn’t have a rolling pin. Kelsey enlightened me that I could just use an empty wine bottle for that. T.I.G.

We rearranged our room because I was hot at night. I love our new arrangement because now I am cool as a cucumber. The downside? Hubs is now burning up. We might have to rethink that one, although we know who is really in charge….

T.I.G.

One of my awesome single friends won a romantic two person dinner cruise in a Wii tournament. I convinced him to trade me his tickets for a massive homemade meal and brownies. T.I.G.

Lastly, I got to go to the U.S. Embassy this week to talk about a history project. And, it’s so close I actually walked there from my house. T.I.G.

  1. There are so many awesome things about this post. But, I think the best might be scowling Julep. Too cute! How are they so small, but take up ALL THE ROOM! 🙂

  2. I just need to live somewhere warm.
Then I need to island hop so I can come and visit you and then stop on by St. Maarten to say hi to Whit!
I keep meaning to join in on this… there are all sorts of spectacular (<-- sarcam) things that happen over here!!
And I love how pups just take over!
    Happy Wednesday 🙂

  3. You’re really going to appreciate being able to look back on these posts! My husband just bought a pick-up truck. Up until this point, we were the only people in town without a truck. Ha!

  4. The taxi story has me cracking up! Sorry I didn’t come up with one this week…but if my mom lets me use it I’ll have a great THIS IS WACO moment to share next week. 🙂
