This is {Wherever} Wednesday Linky Party #13

Welcome to the thirteenth week of the This is {Wherever} Wednesday Party! For anyone new to the blog, this is the par-tay where we chat about the good, the bad, and the ugly in the places we live.

I’m so fortunate to live on the Caribbean Island of Grenada, but it’s not without its quirks. Here, when something doesn’t go as planned or is just plain bizarre, we say “This. Is. Grenada.” or “TIG” for short. I know you have your own “TIG’s” wherever you live, and I want to know about them! Good deeds that you see count too! All you have to do is write a post and link up at the bottom of the page by clicking the blue button! Please link back too, thanks!

Here are my favorites from last week:

Marisa shared a tale I’m all too familiar with. She ordered a strawberry banana smoothie from the delish smoothie place here in Grenada. She was told there were no bananas (even though she caught a glimpse of a pile of them in the back.) T.I.G.

Carrie lives in Guatemala and was in the middle of making a fabulous breakfast when her gas ran out. This happened to me right when I moved here in the middle of baking brownies, so I totally understand!. T.I.Guatemala.

I think I’m getting used to Grenada because I only have one this week:

Yesterday, there was a brush fire next door and the Grenadian fire department came. There were no sirens, no lights, and certainly no hurry. They backed in and out and in and out and in and out of the neighbors driveway about 20 times before getting the right angle to back into the driveway. And of course this morning, the brush fire is still going. T.I.G.

  1. This doesn’t quite qualify for a whole blog post, but I’m brimming with pride that our little tiny town has started a new tradition of the Annual Mustache Contest. (Don’t believe me? Check it out here.)

    TIT (This is Truckee). 🙂

  2. I love the mental picture of the fire truck backing in and out of the driveway. Probably not so funny when you’re next door to the fire, though. Hope everything’s ok!

  3. Oh boy… that scares me! I have a huge deathly fear of fires so that rules out Grenada as the place I am going to live for the rest of my life!!!
